Finally, a book has been written that addresses that aspect of weight loss that has nothing to do with counting calories - The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person. In fact, it is what I've been coaching all along - we must change our thinking in order to change our behavior!
Those of you that I've had the privilege to work with know this, of course, but for everyone else, it is a well-researched fact that behavior begins with our thoughts. It doesn't matter what the behavior is, we are most successful at changing behavior when we change the thought that occurs before the behavior. Dr. Judith Beck, a well-known, respected expert in Cognitive Therapy (actually, her father is the founder of this very effective therapy) addresses, in this new book, how to change the thoughts behind the behavior for successful weight loss. She does it in a way that is easy to understand and takes the reader step-by-step through the process. It is like having a personal coach guiding you through the process, although she recommends, of course, that you have a support person as well to increase your success.
