I just sampled these sunflower seeds at Whole Foods Market and had to pass along the recipe. It is one of those little extras that adds a lot to whatever you're serving. Whole Foods sampled them as a topping on brie that was coated with a pepper jelly sauce - what a delicious experience of tastes and textures and such an easy, impressive-looking appetizer. Here are some other ways to add these to your diet and enjoy the many nutritional benefits they offer, including lots of antioxidants and cholesterol reduction.
1 cup organic raw sunflower seeds (or pumpkin seeds)
1 T. water
1 T. tamari (wheat free soy sauce)
Preheat the oven to 350. Place a heavy oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add seeds, water, and tamari. Stir the seeds until the steam subsides - 1-2 minutes.
Transfer the skillet to the oven and roast for 10-12 minutes. Shake the skillet after 5-6 minutes to ensure even browning.
